K-pop in Public: A Student's Experience

If you're a K-pop fan, you've probably heard of the "K-pop in Public" project, where fans gather to dance to their favourite K-pop songs in public spaces. It's a fun and exciting way to show your love for K-pop. Here at Kinetic we specialize in providing the opportunity to all our students from Beginners to Advanced helping you through the whole experience from start to finish. We help team you up with other like minded Kpop fans, take care of the trainings required and provide the videographer and filming equipment to create an amazing video experience.

Here is a testimonial from a student who had the opportunity to participate in one of our projects. Have a read below to hear what it was like for her.

"First off, I have to say that I was a bit nervous on the filming day. I'm not a professional dancer, and the thought of dancing in front of a crowd of strangers was intimidating. However on the day my nerves were replaced with excitement. I was surrounded by the other K-pop fans, all dressed in their favourite K-pop outfits, and we were all there for the same reason: to dance and have fun. I think we had such a great experience because we trained hard and prepared for this day so I was ready to give it my all for the video.

The whole experience started with our teacher leading us through the dance routine many times practicing with and without the mirror with extra tips such as practicing camerawork, learning how to lipsync etc, and it was challenging but fun. The teacher was very supportive and it was a comfortable experience at Kinetic. We practiced the routine over many weeks and as we got more comfortable with the moves, our energy levels increased and we became more in sync as a team.

When it was time to perform on filming day, we gathered in a public space at darling harbour and started dancing with the cameraman filming in front. People passing by stopped to watch. It was amazing to see how K-pop brought people together, even strangers who had never met before. We performed and filmed our piece three times to get the perfect shot, I felt each time the crowd grew larger.

What I loved most about the K-pop in Public project was the sense of community. We were all there because of our love for K-pop, and that love brought us together. We were all different ages, genders, and nationalities, but we were all united by the music.

Overall, my experience with the K-pop in Public project was unforgettable. It was a chance to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and have fun. If you're a K-pop fan and you have the opportunity to participate in a K-pop in Public project at Kinetic, I highly recommend it. You won't regret it!"
